To conclude the short series on articles on network marketing or multi level marketing, I will reiterate the need to check out an opportunity thoroughly to see if it will help you in breaking free to find freedom.

An opportunity to try the business for free should always be available, as should a meeting where you, as a business entrepreneur, can meet people already involved and hear their opinions and experiences.

It really depends on you to find out all you can. Ask yourself questions such as ‘Does this suit me? Does it help me find freedom? Do I feel comfortable with the business? Do I trust the people I have met?’

Always check to see if the opportunity and its founders have a good track record. Before going it alone with the business, it might be worth doing a little research online (but be wary of those who run down an opportunity simply because they failed in it).

A bad sign would be if the existing operators are unhappy with your questions or put you under unnecessary pressure to sign up. You are a business entrepreneur: be self dependent enough to say goodbye if you are unhappy.

Never sign anything until you are happy with the business or the people involved.

Try to interview people as high up the organization as possible. The business depends on you and people like you to operate so you are interviewing them.

How do you react to the senior distributors or executives? A good sign would be if they have excellent people skills and communicate well. Do they make you feel important or is their interest elsewhere?

Be self dependent and try to understand the law and regulations of the country you are in. In Britain it would be worth researching the Direct Selling Association and the Government Department for Business Innovation and Skills. Find out if they are aware of the business.

Many countries demand new members of direct selling opportunities are allowed a cooling off period, usually a couple of weeks in duration, within which you can change your mind and pull out with no penalty. It depends on you to find out how long you have.

Good network marketing organizations do exist and can help you find freedom. There are massive success stories out there. Be objective. Act like the business entrepreneur you are.

Always be asking yourself, ‘What can I do with this?’ and ‘ Could it work for ME?’

In conclusion, you need to be self dependent and examine the prospective companies, their structure and get a feel for the people with who you will be dealing. Does it work? Is it fair? Does it suit me? Can I find freedom this way?

Always avoid dishonest businesses: they never last long and leave a line of victims. Do not be one of them.
